Pink, Fooball Cactus, and Homecoming

On Wednesday, Susie, my friend Taylor, and I went to see Pink in concert. It all started about two weeks ago. Susie had three tickets, one for her, one for her mom, and one for a friend. Her mom found out she had to be out of town and couldn't attend the concert any more - leaving her with a spare ticket. Enter me! I said that sure, I would love to go. Then she had a bit of a tiff with her friend that held the third ticket and poof! Another spare ticket. She offered the ticket to Leigh, but being that she was busy, she respectfully declined. Then yay! Susie found a replacement, all systems go with three ticket holders. Until the day before the show. Replacement backed out - had to work late and couldn't get off. Ok, now what. Susie couldn't think of any one else to take the ticket. Then it dawned on me, Taylor! I bet she's a Pink fan. Turns out she was and was very glad to take the ticket! After a yummy pre-concert sushi dinner, and some even yummier pre-concert drinks, we arrived at the AA Center with plenty of time to spare. The seats were great and the show was fabulous. I mean, wow kind of fabulous. The best $60 I've spent in a while!!

So last night was our first pleasant evening in quite a while - and it was crisp and cool and just smelled of fall!! We all headed over to the practice field for "fooball cactus", as Abbey calls it. It was cool enough that Abbey had on a jacket and I had on jeans and a sweatshirt. I love this time of year. I love the way a fall evening looks, the way the sun had sort of a golden "harvesty" hue, the way the grass was dark green, the way the sky was streaked with a few straggling clouds left over from our almost two week total cloud cover. A rainbow even peaked through.

Tonight is the Whitesboro homecoming game. At the last WEF Gala, Scott and I purchased the "Homecoming End Zone Package" at the auction. It includes a couch to sit on that's set just outside the end zone on the field, two parking spots, and our concession stand dinner and evening long snacks is "served" to us by volunteer teachers. They're even going to announce us over the loudspeaker as the purchasers of the package - so there's some free advertising for Redish Construction!! We can bring 6 people with us, so we've got Gayle and David and Justin and Darla coming, as well as us and the kids. We're pretty excited about it. In honor of the game, Lea (the secretary here at the office) made the kids this noisemaker to shake. It's a painted tin can that's filled with rocks and decorated with the cutest ribbons. Go Bearcats!!!

2,4,6,8.......who do we appreciate! Looks like you had fun. I can now say that I know someone who sat on a couch on a football field and watched a football game. Awesome.
