There he is!

Ok, so last night was just about the most spontaneous thing I've ever done in my life. Leigh called me at lunch time and asked me what I was doing that night. I don't know, what am I doing?, I asked her. All she said was, "He's going to be at the Galleria TONIGHT!". And I knew exactly who HE was. Robert Pattinson. Edward of Twilight. HIM.

I called Scott and begged him to forgive my lameness, and to see if he would mind keeping the kids for the evening. See, I had just been out of town, so I felt a tiny bit guilty about going out for the night again. Scott laughed at me, and laughed at me, and laughed at me. Told me that yes, I was indeed a loser. And then told me to have a good time. He's the best.

So I picked her up around 4 and we zoomed down to the Galleria, confident that he would catch our eyes and be totally smitten with us. How could he not?? Well, there were already hundreds of girls waiting. And some guys, which was a little disturbing. There were dutiful and darling Dad's with their teenage daughters, there were Moms with a whole gaggle of girls. There were strange, older married women...oh wait. That was us. ANYWAY, they had the stage set up on the bottom floor of the ice rink, and if you know the galleria, you know that from there you can see four floors that atrium up. After eating a yummy dinner at Mi Cocina (priorities, priorities), we made our way up to a perfect spot on the second level. And we waited. And we waited. The atmosphere was crackling with hormonal excitement. It was like where if one person squealed over nothing, three thousand squeals would have erupted in answer. So we waited, and waited, and waited. And it got more and more crowded. And finally, FINALLY! Out he came from some double doors preceded by cops and security. I have to admit that I actually grabbed Leigh's arm, screamed "There he is!" and squealed like the 13 year old girl that I never will be again. I mean seriously, how many people can say that they shared air space with HIM? Not many, thank you very much.

So, the question and answer session began. And very much to our irritation, the microphone wasn't working correctly. You could hear the equivalent of the teacher on Charlie Brown. "Wha wha wha wha." Very much of a let down. But Rob was very gracious and you could tell he was totally blown away by all of the screaming and the carrying on. Pretty much every time he blinked, more screaming erupted. He smiled, waved. Then after trying to answer the questions with hardly no sound, he gave a little speech and I caught "thank you for coming...." and a few other sentences. Then he waves, and off he goes. And you know what happened? Someone handed the hostess a new microphone, and clear as a bell and loudly came her voice through the speakers, "Thank you all for coming!" The groan heard around the world rose up. So NOW we can hear you. But it was fine. We still got to see HIM. We still got to see HIM!!

As I told Leigh, he prefers older women named Nana. You silly girls.

What a night!

Add it to our list of memorable moments together.

Like Taos game night. Stopping for a Snickers break on the Taos slopes, taking our skis off and walking down the mountain only to find our husbands watching us with disgust at the bottom. Morning coffee breaks at the office...I could go on

Now we can add "gazing upon the most beautiful creature on earth" to the list, right under "The night Abbey was born." Yes, it was that momentous. (I'm Kidding!)

glad you guys made it. i saw you on date line or night line whatever the heck it was called. no, not YOU, but they showed the galleria and all the fans. i turned over to Adam and said "my friends are there!!" and squeled and he said "what friends?" not meaning that i don't have any friends but more like which of your friends would go and stand in that crowd? it was funny.
