10 Songs I Hate

I'm committed to blogging more, but I have a bit of a problem.  I don't know what the H - E - double hockeysticks to blog about.  So I'm going to steal me a blog title from another blog.  Don't judge me.  You know you do it, too.

So, drumroll please.....

10 Songs That I Hate

1.  "Lady in Red" by Chris De Burghlergler (or whatever his name was).  I was a sophomore in high school and dating a boy named Spencer Fogleman.  Yes, Fogleman.  And we were at the homecoming dance when this song came on.  And while we slow danced he told me that I was his "Lady in Red" (even though my dress was black) and then he sang it to me.  In my ear.  I remember thinking that he was more of a chick than I was and I dumped him a few days later.  And that song has annoyed me ever since.

2.  "I've Got A Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas.  Pretty much anything by Black Eyed Peas falls here.  They are as overrated as U2.  Terrible.  Awful.  Ice pick through my ear drum awful.  And Fergie is a flat faced pig.

3.  Anything by Sublime.  And it's a darn shame that Sublime is Scott's favorite band.  Because I hate them almost as much as I hate Black Eyed Peas.  Santoria??  Really???  White guys doing a reggae beat is just wrong on so many levels.  And they are the type that get all random and stupid on their live crap that they call music.  Like they're just so artsy fartsy that they can make Grammy winning music just by opening their mouth and singing whatever drivel happens to come out.  You don't sound indie or cool, you sound stoned.  Lucky for me that band won't be making any new music any time soon.

4.  Every song ever recorded by Daughtry.  Which thankfully, isn't many!!  It's like every song he grunts and groans out is a Star Search tryout.  Remember that show?  Whenever anyone would hold a note for longer than three seconds, the audience would clap like it was the second coming.  I see that in my mind every time I listen to one of their songs...hold a note, voice gets gravely, audience claps in wonder.  Shut up.

5.  "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leopard.  That song grossed me out when I was 15.  So what does that say about their level of intelligence?

6.  "Sweet Child Of Mine" by Guns N Roses.  Again, never a fan.  All of my friends were crazy over GNR and I just ever saw it.  Now I was a total hair band freak, but they just irritated the daylights out of me back then.  Put them up there with the overrated bands of the century, in my opinion.  U2 first, Black Eyed Peas second, GNR third.  And while we're talking about them..Axl?  Really??  What in all that is holy did you do to your face?  Dude.  It's not a good look.

7.  "The Climb" by Miley Ray Billy Bob Cyrus.  A 16 year old with the voice of a 62 year old smoker.  Lovely.  And when has she ever "climbed" anything in her fetus life?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she make some list as one of the wealthiest women in America?  Isn't she worth like a zillion dollars according to Forbes??  For singing songs other people write for her.  What the heck have you ever climbed in your life that made you learn a life lesson that you have the nerve to sing about?  The only thing you've climbed is that inapropriate pole you danced on for the Teen Choice Awards while your icky dad watched.  Teen Choice...young people watching you...get a clue, you idiot.

8.  "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry.  Talk about a bad move.  Leave a huge band to do a solo album that was as bad as this.  Did you ever realize that the chorus is six words long?  It's just repeated that many times over and over.  "Oh Sherrie, our love, holds on...".   And he says "Oh Sherrie" waaaaay too many times.  It was just bad.

9.  Any song that has talking in it that's thrown in the middle of the song.  ANY.  Like most country songs.  Especially like George Strait's, "You Look So Good In Love".  When he starts in on his, "Darlin.  I've wasted a lot of years not seein the real you", I want to hurl myself out of the moving vehicle.  STOP TALKING!  It's a song.  That's why we SING in songs.  It's also probably why I don't like most country music.  And yes.  I live in Texas.

10. "Shiny Happy People" by REM.  They're number four on the overrated list, by the way.  But this song is a doozy.  I hear it and instantly think of a bunch of morons running around a field holding hands like blithering idiots.  And I also think that that is exactly how those superior indie jerks who make up REM look at the rest of us.  Shiny Happy blithering idiot People.  You write songs, you didn't cure cancer.  Get over yourselves.

Tomorrow...10 Songs I Love.

I am so in love with you. (Although I don't mind Def Lepard or Sweet Child O' Mine) I also don't like songs where they feel the need to spell. What is up with that? "It's bananas - b-a-n-a-n-a-s!" Like we don't know what she means by bananas so she has to spell it out? Please. Just stop with the spelling.
