December 24: 30 degrees and falling, Winter Storm Warning!
So, for those of you who lived under a yule log this Christmas - we got us some surprise Christmas snow! And not just a dusting...oh no, Sir. This was something! This was epic. This was snow blowing totally sideways, driven by a 45 mph sustained wind, type of snow. This was take Scott's truck out at 9 PM to see if you can make money pulling people out of ditches, type of snow. This was turn donuts in the local supermarket parking lot at midnight, type of snow. This was SNOW!! For the first time in who knows how long (local reports widely vary, depending on who you talk to and how good their memory is), our area had a white Christmas. It fell fast, it fell hard, it blew furiously for about 12 hours. It piled up 6 inches deep in the yard, and drifted to spots up to 3 and 4 feet deep. Then, like a switch....it stopped. It all stopped. And it was beautiful. And the sun came out Christmas morning making the snow all sparkly. And the kids played and laughed and threw snow balls and made snow angels and made their mommy cry. It was like a gift. An, "I'm sorry this year has been the pits...here, have some snow!", type of gift. And we gladly took it and will hold on to it forever in our memories.
My favorite shots, courtesy of Scott the photog....
Cole trying out the new swingset from the in-laws.
NOTE: We do not live in the travel trailer in the background. The swingset was set up behind it to hide it from view until Christmas morning.

Cole's snow angel - nice form!
Not to be out done - Abbey's snow angel.
Scott's snow angel.
Oh, you know he's thinking this...

GREAT shots! And can you believe it's snowing again?? And we have MORE snow in the forecast NYE?!? I LOVE it! Farmer's Almanac predicted a wetter than normal winter for us, and they were obviously right on the money. Enjoy this time and you're right - it's a gift. You survived and you're better than before and the kids are happy and healthy and you and Scott love each other. What else matters, really? All you will remember ten years from now is how happy you guys were in these pictures and what an awesome white Christmas you had!
That looks like so much fun. Even living in Michigan, we seldom had a white Christmas. And you're right, you'll remember this one from all the fun you had.
