4:26 AM - "Bleep!" My phone screams that I have an incoming text. At 4:30 in the morning?? Who is it? MOM??!! What's going on?? Oh great - a picture of flowers she received for her birthday from Dad. Evidently the earthquake delayed cell phone relays. Stupid earthquake. I chuck the phone across the bedside table and go back to sleep.
6:05 AM - "Ka - BOOOOOM!" What in the hell was THAT??? My first thought was, holy crap - propane explosion. It was that loud. Woke me up from a dead sleep, I sat up in bed and actually ran halfway to the bedroom door before I realized it was thunder. I have never in my life heard anything that loud. I swore the house was falling in on us.
So - that set the tone for my day... Super.
Yesterday I was in and out of the office and had no time to sit and blog. My sincere apologies to those of you who have been on pins and needles awaiting the Gospel according to Me.
More of the same from the kids. Abbey is the first to greet people when they come in the door now. She starts hollering, "HI!", when she sees them drive up and doesn't stop until they are ready to leave. Then she switches to, "BYE!", and this continues until they are halfway down the driveway. She is assertive, if nothing else. Cole has developed a fascination for hiding in the pillows of our bed. He builds himself a little tunnel in the pillows and will stay there for hours. Sometimes he'll holler for me to come find him. What a challenge that is, I tell ya.
Mom and Dad felt the "thundah from down undah" yesterday with their little earthquake. They are officially Californian's now, I suppose. Thankfully it wasn't anything major. Dad said that he set a land speed record getting into the street - took him two steps from their dining room to the road. I guess he figured that was the safest place. Good thing he's been walking, or he may have pulled something, otherwise. Mom said she was the poster child for knowing what to do in emergency situations - she stood in front of her desk at work and looked around, wide-eyed. That is something that I never want to feel. At least with tornadoes you know that it's coming in advance, usually. This isn't like that. That is what would freak me out the most, I think.
Tomorrow we leave for Vegas! We're leaving a blistering 104 degree heat and going to a cool 108. What the hell were we thinking??? But I'm pretty excited! Scott wants to take me out to Alize for dinner on Friday night. It's on the top of the Palms and it's getting great reviews as the best restaurant in Vegas right now. You know me, I love to eat at new places!! I am a little nervous about leaving the kids, though. Ashley has kept them overnight before, so I know she can handle it just fine- but it's just me being a worry wart. I'll get over it real quick, though. Like when we board the plane.

Oh my gosh. I'm sorry about the text message. I've had that happen to me before and didn't realize that the system can delay it by that many hours. Have fun in Vegas. Wish I was there watching the kiddos.
XXOO
Mom
Fun fun fun! The rain and thunder caught us offguard too. Sid woke up to the flash and jumped up wondering what was on fire! We had no idea there were storms in the forecast.
Glad your Mom and Dad survived their first earthquake. Scary!
You just wait...Cole is going to park himself in the pillows, you'll think he's with Scott, and he'll scare the living crap out of you. The last laugh will be on you!
