Cole started 1st grade yesterday. YAY! No more $180 per week for Ashley!! Woo Hoo!! Who wants to go shopping????? As usual the camera ninja has the camera hidden someplace. I'll post pictures later, hopefully I'll be allowed to touch the camera today.
So Cole started school. He really wasn't too thrilled about it. He kept saying, "But I don't want to color any more!". Poor kid was bored to tears with kindergarten. All they did was color and write their numbers and letters over and over again and he had zero interest. His teacher seems pretty good this year, she's a Ms., not a Mrs. When we picked him up yesterday afternoon, he came up to us and she was looking for his name to cross him off the list and she said, "Hmmm, George right??", and made him giggle a little. Then she stuck out her hand and shook his and said, "Good day. Excellent student. Love ya, baby." I like her. Cole was so excited that they didn't color and that he got to play with Play-doh. I don't think that any of his other friends are in his class, but he seemed cool with it. He seemed happy that he saw a few of his buddies on the playground after lunch. He said that he saw his friend Jackson and that Jackson was very happy to see him and said, "Hi Cole!". So I asked Cole what he said back, and he replied in his best bored voice, "I said, Hey". He's so his father. Whatever you do, don't let them see you happy. Must look cool at all times.
Football practice started last night. I have mixed emotions over this. I won't be a part of any "Texas Football" mentality. I won't let this not be fun for him because of some psycho coach and equally psycho football dads. When we signed up I made sure that this was just the basics, just fun. The coach assured me that they're all about having fun at this age and that they're only allowed by law to have three events per week - including games. So that's fine with me. So Scott takes him last night and he said that Cole had a good time and everything and then mentions that the coach said something about adding a third practice every week. WHAT??!! Four days a week for flag football?? These kids are six years old, people. They don't need to be out until 7 each night three days a week and then have a game every Saturday afternoon. So now coachey-man is on my list. I already DON'T like him.

sounds a lot like my experience with tball. where 5 year olds had to try out and then the coaches all met one night to draft players. seriously. and they said the same thing to me, all fun and games, until one grandma made a nasty comment about how she couldn't believe matthew threw the ball to first base. i bit her head off, chewed it up, and then spit it out.
good luck.
yay for cole being cool at school :)
Glad Coley likes his teacher!
How are they allowed to add a practice?? Are they wanting to break the rules and meet in some secret location? Will they start prescribing the kids steroids to bulk them up? Will they ship them off to some football bootcamp? Will they, will they, will they?
4 things a week is INSANE for 6 year old. When I was six, I was playing with the kids on my street and had a Brownies troop meeting once a week. I think I turned out just fine. Then again, maybe Cole will one day play for the Cowboys and you will all be laughing as you roll in huge piles of money.
This has nothing to do with your post (which was great by the way, don't get me started on Little League coaches), but I have been thinking about you today and here's why: I read Twilight today. Yes, in one day. (I know, hello April, welcome to 2008.) I am a 36 year old woman reading about a vampire who falls in love with a human girl. And even worse, couldn't put the stupid book down. My daughter was hungry and I said "Eat some crackers, Mommy is waiting for Edward to kiss Bella." Nice. My friend gave me the whole series over the weekend and I rolled my eyes and said "I'm not reading vampire books Dude. I'm almost 40." And she laughed and said "Sure you won't." I know this is a long comment but I don't have your email so email me. aprilsreignblog at gmail dot com. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go start the second book. Stupid vampires.
