So last night started out totally normal. Kids were cute, we ate, got them ready for bed, settled in to the bedroom to relax before going to bed ourselves. The dogs were outside doing their thing before coming in for the night. Scott was watching a show about the biggest roller coasters in the US and I was frantically reading Breaking Dawn. About five minutes after we sat down, I heard a funny high pitched noise that sounded very far away. I had no idea what it was and I assumed it was Cole humming to himself through the monitor. Then it started getting louder and closer and it dawned on me that it was one of the dogs hollering. About that time Scott heard it too and he literally launched himself out of the chair in the bedroom, actually hurdled over the wooden rocking chair and ran out onto the porch before I could even stand up from bed where I was reading. Once again, I proved that I'm about as great in an emergency as Mom is. Scott moved like lightning, the fastest I've ever seen him go. So anyway, Sassy comes running and literally screaming into the house. I've never heard a dog actually scream, and it's one of the worst sounds I've ever heard. Then Scott started hollering for Skeeter, who was running full speed after something in the direction that Sassy had come from. About 60 seconds later Skeeter came back. Both dogs were fine, but agitated acting. We can only assume a coyote had tried to carry Sassy-britches off for a tasty snack. Scared the pants off of us and Sassy, too! When I let her out this morning, she peed in the grass and came right back to sleep on the back porch. She wasn't going anywhere!
I finished Breaking Dawn. Oh. My. God. That's all I have to say. I'm not going to say much because Leigh and I are meeting tonight for sushi to discuss the book and I don't want her to read what I'm saying. I am so excited for tonight. My favorite food with my favorite girl talking about my favorite books. Heaven for me.
Cole had a great time at the zoo yesterday. Larry said that when he gets the video on a disc he'll give us a copy. Can't wait to see it. They got the kids ice cream and a present, so Cole was totally thrilled.
Abbey has a new favorite word: Money. She finds coins everywhere and brings them to me. I don't even know where she's finding them! It isn't like I just dump my wallet out and let the chips fall where they may. But she brings me a quarter and says, "money!". And I say, "Oh! Thank you, give it to mommy!" And she scowls and says, "NO!", and walks away in her bulldog-style walk (she seriously struts like a little bulldog). But, I can't blame her for wanting to keep it. It's money, after all!
