EDIT: Click on the above photo to make it full size. See the little girl in green checking Cole out?? That's Zoe from his class. She stared at him the ENTIRE game. So cute!Last night I took Cole to the Whitesboro homecoming game. It was the first high school game we'd ever
been to and we had a ball. Whitesboro beat up on Bonham 36-0. It was so much fun watching the cheerleaders and the band and the crowning of the homecoming king and queen. Cole got tired at half time so we went ahead and left. He saw lots of kids he knew and he hollered hello to everyone. This morning was his second football game (last week was canceled) against Sherman. We scored on the very first play of the game and the little guys didn't look back from there. We won 16-6. The score would have been two touchdowns higher, but both were called back due to penalties. For some reason the referees noticed every time our kids did anything out of line, but never noticed the Sherman kids grabbing us by the necks, arms, tripping, etc. Whatever. Anyway, they started Cole on offense this time as the tight end. He did really well and seemed to really have a great time. He made a few great blocks and he had a penalty called on him (holding), but the most important thing was that he had a great time.
After the game Chantell (my sister-in-law) and I went down to the mall for a yummy sushi lunch and then lots of shopping. We both had too much to drink at lunch, so that made for a spectacular shopping excursion. I scoped out lots of stuff that I'm going to get to take with me to Scottsdale. I still can't believe that I'm going. And I can't believe I had two glasses of wine and a martini at lunch.
We came home and the guys were watching the Florida State football game and we ended up grilling steaks and having a really nice dinner with everyone. Everyone is gone now and Scott is still out watching the end of the game. It doesn't look good for Florida State, though. So that means that Scott will be in a bad mood tomorrow. Super.
I got a phone call from Zac tonight. He got our care package. He sounded like his spirits are up and that he's really soaking up everything that he's learning - this being his first storm job. His hours are accumulating and the 16 hours a day will add up for him to graduate a few months sooner than they had planned. So that is great. He thinks that he'll be there at least three weeks, but probably two months. Laurie is supposed to be going to California to visit mom and dad. I hope she does go because it will help to pass the time and she'll have a good time.
Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday night.
