Baby shower, Fundraiser, Birthday, Sick kid and Punkeks

Wow. What a weekend. Wasn't it just Friday a minute ago?

Anywho - Friday night was spent alone with the kiddo's. We had our typical Scott is out of town dinner - punkeks (in Abbey's little voice)! Or as grown ups call them, pancakes. I took the kids to "Crack in the Barrel" and we all had fun. Then about an hour after we got home as I was painstakingly wrapping the Hershey bar favors for Taylor's baby shower, I heard Cole whining from the other room. I went to investigate and found him in a ball in my bed, shivering. He had a fever of 102.7 and was complaining that his legs hurt and his eyes were burning. What in the world has those symptoms? Down went some Tylenol and after a call to the nurse hotline, I was told to just observe him and see what else pops up. Nothing did, and after a fitful night of sleeping and more doses of Tylenol he woke up Saturday morning feeling a little better, but still had a fever. After Cole fell asleep that night, I watched Sex and the City movie for the first time. Oh my gosh! LOVED IT!! I think I cried about 12 times. I started when Carrie got the call from Big at the ceremony and she dropped the phone, but I really started when they stopped the cars in the street and Big got out and Carrie beat him with her flowers and then hysterical, flung her arms around Charlotte and then Big went to walk toward Carrie and Charlotte to comfort Carrie and Charlotte hanging on to Carrie screamed at him "You! Don't!" and pointed at him to stand back and he froze, shocked and just the way Charlotte said it and the look of pain on her grief-stricken face. Ugh. So unexpected out of Charlotte (the quiet one). I don't know, it made me gasp out loud and I just sobbed. Charlotte is my new hero.

Scott got home Saturday at 10:30. He had driven down to visit Zac in Huntsville for the night and they had a great time. As soon as he left, I zoomed out the door with Abbey to get started on getting ready for Taylor's shower. Gayle had called and offered to keep Abbey for the day because she knew what a crazazy day I was about to have, and since Cole wasn't feeling well I took her up on it. Not that Scott couldn't handle two kids - but an excuse to separate them and hopefully keep Abbey from catching whatever it is that Cole had. So, drop her off and head to Sherman to pick up the cheese and veggie trays and the balloons. Kroger said that they were pre-paid, so I just left. They were not pre-paid come to find out, and we got free food! Drove to Paula's house after that to help the other girls set up. We finished up with about 30 minutes to spare and if I do say so myself, it looked fantastic.

I had to leave the shower early at 4:00 to head home to change and get ready for the Kyle Ranch Whitesboro Education Foundation fund raiser party (photo above). It was our 10th annual party and we had a real live Texas band there called Spur 503. Holy cow were they fantastic - and I'm not even a country music fan in the slightest. So anyway, being that I am Madame Vice President of the foundation, I had to be there by 5:00 to help with finishing touches and to greet people as they came in. I think that about 500 people came and we raised about $20k for the foundation between cash donations and auction items!! It was a real success. Gayle and David brought Abbey and she had a ball dancing to the band and running around (which really means running away from everyone). Butch stayed home with Cole because he still wasn't feeling well. Scott came around 6:15 and I think I saw him for a grand total of about 5 minutes the entire four hours we were there.

We got home to find Cole still a little sicky, but feeling a little better. I was most concerned about him making the Cowboy's game on Sunday. At this point, I was pretty much sure that he wasn't going to be able to go and he was pretty upset. However, in typical kid fashion, he woke up Sunday morning fever-free and feeling "fine". His eyes still looked a little worn out, but he was running around, playing and being himself. We decided to let him go - and Scott said that he had a ball. He loved it, they ended up having great seats (thank you Foxworth's for the tickets!), and it only took them two hours to get out of the parking lot when it was over. Argh! Isn't that the worst?

Sunday was also Abbey's birthday! Happy birthday to my little baby girl, she's two!! She got presents from Nana and Bumpa, Aunt Laurie and Uncle Zac and Jack, Mommy and Daddy, Mimi and Papa, Uncle Jim and Aunt Chantell and Sydney. She loved opening her presents and kept hollering, "Happy Baby!" instead of Happy Birthday. I think her favorite present was the Cabbage Patch from Nana and Bumpa. She carries it everywhere and took it to Gayle's with her this morning. She keeps pulling it's diaper back and saying, "No poopie". Then she'll pull down the front and say, "No pee pee."

I'm so glad she liked the cabbage patch doll. I remember when those dolls were the craze when you & Laurie were little and although we found some random store in Tyler, Texas, who had the dolls so you girls could have your Christmas present, it surprised me that you girls actually played with the dolls. Usually the current fad is tossed aside after a few minutes, but you girls played with those dolls forever! And I'm glad the doll hasn't had an accident in her diapers.

Glad all your events were successes!

I LOVED Cabbage Patch kids. They were selling some anniversary ones on QVC the other day. A lady called in and the host asked, "Who is the special someone getting this doll?" The caller, who was mostly defintley a grown woman, replied, "Me - I'm a collector!!" Don't mean to be rude, but Abbey with a Cabbage Patch doll? Super precious. A grown woman with shelves full of Cabbage Patch dolls? C-R-E-E-P-Y!!!!!

Hope Coley is 100% free of sickness!

aww how cute is abby wabby with her cabbage patch!! morgan is running around with one lately too. we have the baby one, it's smaller and just her size but still has the soft body. love it!

matthew's eyes burn when he's feeling sick too!! finally i found another kid with that weird symptom. the other day at school he went to the nurse because his eyes were burning and the nurse sent him back to class, well he came home and sure enough he had fever. i had to call the next day and demand to know whey they didn't call me when he had a fever and the nurse said "he just said his eyes were burning so i didn't even think to take his temp." fair enough i guess.

i LOVED that part of the SATC too. well not loved it but i sobbed like a baby at that part too. so sad!

glad you guys had a great turnout at the fundraiser! great job!

I am so happy little Abbey had a good birthday. Now don't get me wrong, I love my boys. Love them! Buuuuut, there is nothing like shopping for a little girl. I know, I am totally politically incorrect but I don't care. I love all that girly stuff.

Glad Cole is feeling better, nothing more heartbreaking than when your babies are sick. I told my middle one "Oh baby, I wish it was me instead of you." Sweet little angel looked at me with his big brown eyes and said, "Yeah mom, I wish it was you too."

Oh Stacey, I loooooooooooooooooved Sex & The City. I saw it twice in the theater. Once, with my mother in law. Yeah, awkward! But other than the raunchy stuff, I loved the story about the power of female friendships. One of my favorite parts was when Samantha was feeding Carrie. I bawled like a baby. It was a beautiful movie. And just to let you know, I would totally spoon feed you any day if you needed it. I love you and your family that much. :)

So I am a third of the way through Breaking Dawn. OMG Stacey. O.M.G!!
